I personally really love Fall. I like all of the things that make the cold crisp mornings and start of a new season feel so much better. So without adieu, here is my welcome to Fall Bucket List!
I also love October because it’s my birthday month. Even without that special date, I love everything about the summer ending and a new season beginning. This year it really felt like our California summer lasted from March to well, now! I am really looking forward to pulling out my box of mittens, hats, scarfs and fuzzy socks!
How do you celebrate fall? Do you like the cooler temperatures of the upcoming weeks or do you wish summer would stick around?

Earlier in the year, I saw Taylor Swift would be coming to Santa Clara to perform. Later that day, I was chatting with Maryah and her roommate Taylor, and we decided to get tickets. I had a budget I was … Continue reading
A week before work started back up again, my brother and I went to Tahoe. Now, my brother and I exist on slightly different sleep schedules during summer. I, not using my alarm clock daily, and sleep in until 8 or 9 and stay up later (to the shocking time of 11 or thereabouts). My brother, who is usually roused by his rather large and rather noisy pup at the tune of 5am, has become an early riser.
So, on the weekend we went for Tahoe, my brother stated he would like me to get up and drive to Tahoe round 5am. I tried to negotiate, but I lost. Off we went.
On the plus side, we had a rather nice sunrise during our drive.
We met up with my father in Truckee where I ate what appeared to be the largest bowl of oatmeal.
We were headed to see our good friends new house just outside of Truckee. They are nestled pretty deeply in the woods, and have a gorgeous backyard and beautiful mountain house.
We grabbed the pup and took a walk up the hill behind their house. They have a great view of the backside of North Star. The pup promptly found the largest stick he could carry, and proceeded to bang it on every tree and rock on his hike up the mountain. I also got to see their adorable 2-story treehouse!
After our walk, we drove back to our house on the other side of the mountains. Tahoe is always so relaxing, full of tasty food, extra sleep, and lazy movie time. I’m hoping to get more Tahoe time this school-year, as it didn’t seem to happen often enough last year.
Where is your favorite place to relax and unwind?

After two rainy days in Portland Maine, my father and I drove south to the Cape. We stayed in Hyannis Port, and explored a few of the local towns. One of my favorite days there we spent visiting Provincetown. We happened to visit on a sunny, warm day. We walked the downtown section easily, and then spotted the Pilgrim Monument. I am delighted by all things historical and old, so I explored the museum and monument on my own while my dad took a break in the car.
Construction on the Pilgrim Monument began in 1907 when Theodore Roosevelt laid the cornerstone, and the monument was completed in 1910. The museum and monument was built to educate the general public about the Mayflower Pilgrims arrival to the New World in 1620.
I climbed about 116 steps and walked up 6o ramps to reach the monuments viewing platform at the top, which stands 252 feet tall. It was a beautiful view.
From there we drove back to Hyannis Port where we picked up fish and chips to go, and watched a beautiful sunset on the beach.
I love days spent in the fresh air, listening to the beat of the waves. I could have easily spent a week in Hyannis Port playing on the beach, eating delicious seafood, and exploring all the little towns. To me, beach days and the smell of the crisp ocean air are summer.

Due to a mix-up with dates and hotels, we ended up driving a bit north after Kennebunkport, and stayed the night at a gorgeous resort call Spruce Point Inn. I have never had any inclinations or thoughts of planning a … Continue reading
As much as I love my kiddos, I also realllllyyyy enjoy summer break off. This last year was particularly brutal as I barreled through working full time, night classes to finish up my Master’s, and completing my second year of … Continue reading
I believe every week in December will hold something amazing. This year my alma mater had their annual December book-fair, which is something I always look forward to. Even though they have moved to a new campus, and have tons of new staff, I always enjoy coming back and seeing the few people that made my middle school years so memorable.
Our librarian Walter, is a professional story-teller and always reads a chapter or a portion of a book. This year, it was a co-telling by Walter and Esther and it was amazing.
My masters classes at Santa Clara University and work vamping up heading into a second set of finals meant most days I am burning the candle at both ends. So, I treated myself to coffee and a manicure, and to some yummy fro-yo after babysitting all day. There’s something so decadent about taking time for just yourself, especially in the midst of the holiday chaos. It was exactly what I needed.
We had a pretty epic storm here last week, but I settled in to my itty-bitty apartment to binge-watch Gilmore Girls and eat soup! I loved every rain-soaked minute, including the tippy-tippy-tap of rain on the roof, wearing my rain-boots every day for a week, and the fresh clean scent of the air after it rains. We got some pretty gorgeous sunrises and clouds after a week of pouring rain.
When you are pushing yourself too hard (either at work, or school, or both!), how do you relax?

My brother and I start our Thanksgiving week off right, baking a cinnamon coffee cake (a family recipe and total favourite of ours) and working in front of a crackling fire. On Friday, my Dad, Cheech and I drove up … Continue reading
The wedding was unbelievably gorgeous. The bride looked stunning, the decorations were simple but elegant, and the food delicious. The sunset just after the ceremony was the crowning jewel. It rained during dinner, and it was delightful to listen to … Continue reading
