Hello Friends, Last weekend my father and I spent our Saturday exploring San Francisco. We started off with a fantastic breakfast at a little place called Wise Sons, sadly I didn’t snap a picture of it, because I was just … Continue reading
In late November my friend Annie and I explored the glorious city of Portland. I have driven through it on my way to Seattle, but hadn’t really spent much time. I fell in the love with the fall colors, glorious food, rainy weather and beautiful gardens. Here is a short video about our trip to Portland Oregon.
Have you ever been to Portland? Found any places that I should add to my list for when I return?
Life has been extremely busy lately, thus the radio silence on the blog here. So many holiday events, get togethers with friends, observations at work, prepping for Christmas and time in Tahoe.
Our neighbors got a wood-fired mini pizza oven, and we made our first batch a few weeks ago. They were amazing!!
I went to a pearl tea place with a friend and these were their signs outside. I loved it!
This was a cute birthday card given to a co-worker at ND, and i thought it was supercute. #ilovealpacas
My brother and I baked apple donuts for the first time and they were deliiiish. I liked the donut holes the best!
To go with the apple donuts we made chili and I made the cornbread. Yum.
Also, we bought a Christmas tree….and then I got one for my house, and then one for my brother’s house. That’s how we ended up with 3 trees!
My tree all decorated. It only leans a little as it was hard to tell if it was straight in the tree holder as I live by myself.
I made biscotti as a holiday gift for friends, family and co-workers. I make both snickerdoodle and gingersnap! So tasty, I ate so many during the first batch there weren’t many to share.
Kim’s family had me over for their thanksgiving holiday party this past Sunday at their new house in San Carlos. I had so much fun, we did a while elephant exchange.
That’s it, life has been good and busy, but I promise I get back to posting more often!!
Our last day on Nantucket we started out with breakfast at Fog Island Cafe. From there my dad and I browsed a little bit in downtown where I picked up a few things. We went back to the house and packed … Continue reading
Hello Friends! I will be doing longer posts with more photos on the various activities we did, but I created this fun short little vlog of our family trip to Nantucket two weeks ago. We had a blast when we … Continue reading
As much as I love my kiddos, I also realllllyyyy enjoy summer break off. This last year was particularly brutal as I barreled through working full time, night classes to finish up my Master’s, and completing my second year of … Continue reading

- Had a girls weekend in Pittsburgh with my mother, including these delicious waffles!
- Watched a rain and thunderstorm in Pittsburgh, just outside of this building
- Saw my very first drive-in movie (How to Train Your Dragon 2)
- Had a beach day with my girls, and used my newly finished t-shirt quilt!
- Followed up the beach-day with some fantastic horchata ice cream from Marianne’s
- Participated in our family portraits photo-shoot, taken by the talented Andria Hautamaki (more photos coming!) Aren’t we a cute ‘lil family?!
- Knocked 2 things off my 101 list!
So far, its been a great 3 weeks of summer! How’s your summer going? How was your 4th of July? What did you do for it?
Rather late Saturday night we moved the party to Beach House #2 (BH#2) and continued on very late into the night. I snagged a bed and crashed about 2am, rather late for this old lady who prefers 10pm sharp.
On Sunday I woke up bright and early. Often my internal alarm clock wakes me up when I would rather have slept in. I started on breakfast for the group and enjoyed watching people stumble in, semi-awake. After a while, the group was fed and drowsy. We tidied up the house, and some people took of. The smaller group left for the beach. Annie, Sunny, Huyson and I wandered along the beach, snagging cute photos of each other. We walked around the down-town area and picked up some tasty ice cream. We tidied the house and left for home.
It was a great weekend.
I wish more were like that, full of sunshine, fresh air and friends. I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving foods next week, it is powering me through this week, knowing next week will be fantastic and full of yummy foods!
This past weekend I was invited to a friend’s birthday dinner at a wine bar in Palo Alto called Gravity. I had some free time and grabbed a coffee before meeting up with the dinner party. Sitting in the sunshine I enjoyed a calm moment with my book. It was lovely.
Abby was the perfect birthday girl, and we indulged in plenty of yummy food! The restuarant Gravity was new to me so we ordered a little bit of everything.
Our desserts were unbelievably good. I had the strawberry shortcake, Abby ordered a peach pastry with vanilla ice cream and Rita got a chocolate lava cake.
When I got back to the apartment the pups were snuggling despite the lingering heat.
Today my father and I spent the whole day in the kitchen creating delicious things to eat. We tackled an impressive list: chili, tortilla lasagna, banana walnut bread, and peppermint-chocolate ice cream. A long day, but so worth it!
There are no photos of the ice cream. So sad, because it really was delicious. Next time!
How was your Tuesday? What did you do today?
