Fresh Start, Apple-Picking and Classes

I feel like each day feels really long, but the weeks and months go by quickly. Fall and Christmas are two of my favorite seasons, so I am trying to soak up every small moment. I officially had my first … Continue reading

Miami Beach and the Everglades

The last day or two of our vacation was spent in Florida. We flew back to the US and took a tour of the Everglades, and then poked about my mother’s hometown. It was great to finally see the house that my mother grew up in, and see the city that she spent her youth in. I had grown up visiting my father’s parents and seeing his hometown almost every summer but this was my first time seeing my mother’s birthplace. The Everglades was beautiful, and bursting with wild-life.

We grabbed lunch at Joe’s Stone Crab and it was the perfect finish to a fantastic family vacation. It took all day on Sunday to get back to California (3 flights again!), but it was worth every minute of the travel to have a week in the Caribbean.

I hope everyone is getting a chance to relax this weekend! You’ve earned it.

Sunday in Capitola

Rather late Saturday night we moved the party to Beach House #2 (BH#2) and continued on very late into the night. I snagged a bed and crashed about 2am, rather late for this old lady who prefers 10pm sharp.

On Sunday I woke up bright and early. Often my internal alarm clock wakes me up when I would rather have slept in. I started on breakfast for the group and enjoyed watching people stumble in, semi-awake. After a while, the group was fed and drowsy. We tidied up the house, and some people took of. The smaller group left for the beach. Annie, Sunny, Huyson and I wandered along the beach, snagging cute photos of each other. We walked around the down-town area and picked up some tasty ice cream. We tidied the house and left for home.

It was a great weekend.

I wish more were like that, full of sunshine, fresh air and friends. I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving foods next week, it is powering me through this week, knowing next week will be fantastic and full of yummy foods!

Burgers, Friends and Fancy Friday

The group of us went out to dinner last night at the Counter in Mountain View. Everyone looked fantastic and I had a blast. Burgers is what this place does best, but I enjoyed a yummy mint Oreo milkshake and a Cobb Salad. It was a lovely evening.

Doesn’t everyone look swanky? I’m thinking of Mexican food for the next Fancy Friday. How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun? Happy Monday!

Color Run-October 26th

Have you guys ever heard of a Color Run? It is a 5K run done in a variety of major cities.

But the epic part about this race is that they have Color Zones, where volunteers throw colored cornstarch at runners dressed in white. These Zones help runners determine how far along in the race they are AND make for a ridiculous amount of fun and silly photos!  Like this one:

Or this one:

The color in his beard is spectacular.

I have always wanted to run in one since I saw a race in Seattle, but they only come to San Francisco about once a year. The last few years the timing has just not work out, BUT I just registered for the October 26th race. So, this means I need to get my butt in gear and get some running in.

Anyone have any suggestions on good songs to run to?
