Iphones, Anchors, Elephants and Monograms

So my Iphone case currently is showing some wear and tear. It mostly means that the rubber part around it is now loose and does not stay in place. In short, it bugs me because I have to constantly adjust it. But Otterbox has kept my phone intact so I am slightly nervous to switch brands, but this has happened twice in the year that I have had this brand.

In the meantime I have started looking at new Iphone cases. There are so many cute options!

Since I have a nautical theme going on, it would be so cute to have something anchors. But then there are some cheerful monogrammed or animal ones as well. So many choices!

Option One: I love this color.

Option One: I love this color.

Option 2: It has coral on it! And a monogram.

Option 3: I love the text in the background. So detailed.

Option 4: I like this color combo, and the cute elephant in the corner.

Option 5: This is the one I like the most!

Option 6; aren't these zebras cute?

So which ones do you like? Which one would you get? Tell me which one to get please! What does your case look like? Where did you get it? Do you still love it?

New Cars,Kiel James Patrick, Moleskine, and Sunflowers

On Wednesday my good friend Joey swung by the house to show off his new car. It was a sexy little white convertible, and we zoomed off to celebrate at Santana Row with some bubble tea. He was over the moon about this new beast of his.

Isn’t it pretty?

Joey is happy.

All good things come to those who wait:

Beautiful things come in pretty boxes.

I also picked up a new planner. As much as I love my little Iphone, I really do love writing things down physically. I seem to remember them better if I do, and I also love looking over the week as a whole. While I have finally figured out how to use the Iphone Calendar, I am forever making mistakes and putting events on the wrong day/time. So for now, back to my beloved Moleskine.  I love the 18 months planner, it covers the school year and summer all wrapped in one! I started using them my first year of college and have used all used many of their different products over the years.

I stopped by the farmers market on my way home to pick up some summer fruit and flowers. Fresh flowers, and sunflowers in particular, make every day a little bit brighter, don’t you agree?

Sunflowers are my favorite flower

So how was your Thursday? Did you do anything fun? Do you have any plans for the upcoming long weekend?

Anchors, Dancers, and Songs on Repeat

Have I mentioned I adore with all things nautical? Our house is named Queen’s Cove and even has it’s own Foursquare check in spot. I just ordered this little gem. It has been out of stock this whole summer, so when I got the email that they had some in stock I snapped one up!

I watched So You Think You Can Dance when I was in high school. One of the students (Nick Lazarini) was in my advanced dance classes at my high school and won the first or second season when I was a freshman.  I started watching SYTYCD because of him. One of the most recent episodes had an outstanding performance by Amy and Travis , that reminded me of a routine danced by
Travis and Heidi in an earlier season (not the same Travis :] ). The passion and emotion comes across so clearly in both pieces.

Performed by Heidi and Travis:

The costumes, the music, the dancing, it’s all spectacular. What did you think? Did you like one better than the other?

Recently this song has been on repeat. I heard it in this movie 10 Years, and fell in love with this song called Never Had by Oscar Isaac. I love the idea of guy writing a love song about what could have happened, but for some reason didn’t. Listen to it and tell me what you think.

Is there anything that you wish could have happened that didn’t?  Any path that you thought you would take but for some reason didn’t?

Critters Sweaters, Divergent, and Pistols

I’m in love with this sweater from C Wonder. I have really gotten into Critter sweaters, and am looking to develop my formal sections in closet, which should include cute sweaters. As I am completing my academic wardrobe, I have found many areas where my current closet isn’t formal or classy enough to wear to work as a teacher. By simply putting a collared shirt under a cute sweater, I am now fancy enough for work!

SCOTTIE INTARSIA SWEATER

I read the Divergent series last year when they were published. I love post-apocalyptical plots, so when I saw it featured last year on Amazon I snapped it up on my Kindle. Today, I saw that Hulu had a trailer for the movie’s release next year in early 2014. I loved the books so I hope they do a decent job on the movies. Have you read the books? Are you excited to see the movie?

Last week I went to the range with a friend and I learned how to shoot 2 pistols and a shotgun. Going to a range was something on my bucket list, so I felt the need to document this glorious event.

Learning the Shotgun

My bucket list has been a recent topic among some of my friends. There seem to be two camps, one that agrees with my organised plan on how to live a full live. The other camp disagrees, and thinks that I should just live the life that happens, and live spontaneously.

What do you think? Do you have a bucket list? What is on it? Anything I should add to mine?

Colorado, weddings and a gorgeous sunrise

On Friday I flew to Colorado for an old friend’s wedding in Estes Park. I was nervous heading into the weekend, as I would only know the groom out of all the wedding guests.

Fortunately enough, I car-pooled with two other people on the hour-long drive from the airport to our hotel. Bryant, the groom, was on the men’s gymnastics team at Stanford, and his fiance was on the women’s team. I ended up having a fantastic time because the driver of my car was kind and invited me to tag along with her for basically the whole weekend as we hung out with the men’s team. This large group of rowdy men accepted my presence with astonishing ease and made the whole weekend a lot of fun with their silliness and skilled dancing.

I had a mild freak out when I was getting ready and realised I have lost weight. My strap-less dress was precariously loose! Fortunately I had safety pins and performed emergency surgery on my dress. I grabbed my wrap and I was good to go.

The wedding was at a beautiful outside garden that was part of Della Terra Chateau. Everyone looked their best, the average age was 25 and most were nationally ranked gymnasts. The food was great, the DJ picked good songs, and we danced until they kicked us out at 11. I took an early A.M shuttle and I am nibbling on an Einstein Bagel and chai while waiting for my flight. This fantastic weekend was just a breath of fresh mountain air, and I loved every minute of it.

The view from our hotel was amazing!

The sunrise this morning at the Denver Airport made my early start worth it.

Have you gone to any weddings this summer? Where was your favorite wedding? What did you wear and what food did they serve?

Sunglasses and Pearls

So I believe that both of my best friends (Robert and Alli) are unbelieveably talented artists. Although they beg to differ, I ask you to be my critics in ascertaining the truth. In late July Robert did a photoshoot of the short one (my roommate) and I at a local park. Normally I am on the other side of the camera, clicking and adjusting the aperture, so this was very exciting for me. It was also hard to stand still for so long. I now have major respect for models. He sent me two photos last night and I was blown away by how elegant I look.

Bangles, Clutches, Coach and Tortilla Jokes

MY NEW BANGLE CAME IN!!!

I have been following this blogger the College Prepster for a while now, and I have fallen in love with her clothing style. She wears everything so effortlessly. I had become particularly enamored with this bangle, and finally purchased it from Sydney Buchanan. The bangle arrived the other day and I have not taken it off my wrist since! It reminds me to follow my dreams, which is becoming an art teacher. What are your dreams? Any passions or hobbies you enjoy?

Live your Dreams Bangle

There was a sale on CWonder recently and I bought two beautiful things, a suede belt and a beautiful blue  clutch. I have a wedding this weekend in Colorado at Della Terra and plan on debuting the clutch there in style.

CWonder Belt and Clutch

So in the last few months I have developed a liking of online shopping, and looking at purses. I got a  cross body purse at Target a long time ago. I loved this brown purse to bits until one day it fell apart. While I feel like I have gotten a lot of use out of it, I thought perhaps it was time to buy a quality purse. I started with a list ( i love lists, to an unhealthy degree) and worked from there. Finally I stumbled across this lovely gem, which is now all mine. I love the handle on the top!

My Coach Willis Bag

But in the process of finding this lovely thing, I have started looking at satchels in general, and a black one at that. While my coach is still my go to bag, there was a J.Crew Edie purse that I fell in love with, and demonstrated such restraint in not buying it(because my coach purse was on order) that it is now out of stock and I am sad.

In other news, I found this video, and it is amazing. I might adopt this couple and make them my two new best friends. I hope I don’t scare them with high level of admiration in this post.

Has anyone heard of or bought anything on Poshmark? My good friend Annie recommended it because of my absurd love of Kate Spade, but I do not know anyone who has actually purchased from it.

Have you purchased anything on Poshmark? What is your go-to purse? What do you love about it? Any good jokes or videos you think are hilarious?

Kittens, Mittens, and More

A coworker is staying with my roommate and I until she moves into her new apartment. Her adorable pup is named Miton. It means mitten in Spanish, which fits this classy young animal as he has white socks on a black body. I have enjoyed having a third housemate (and third four footed beast), even if it is temporary. Miton is a shy young thing and runs from both me and the camera, although I don’t think of myself as scary. I’m hoping to photograph him later this week because he is a beautiful creature.

My best friend Alli recently got a cat from a shelter and on Monday I met him. Mack is 6 years old and has a sparkling personality. Although he is still settling into his new home, I was still able to give him a tummy rub while he joined us on the couch.

This was the photo from the shelter:

Mack the Cat

Alli gave me the inside scoop and apparently he is in love with this soft fuzzy blanket, and loves to spend hours curled up in this chair.

Mack the Cat in his favorite spot

I think he has the cutest face. It looks like he got into paint or something! Do you have any pets? Have you ever thought about adopting a pet from a shelter?

Beaches, Tahoe, Summer Salads, Macaroons and Silly Songs

My roommate and I drove up to Tahoe to join my family in a relaxing three day weekend. The cabin is normally our retreat, where we eat, sleep, watch T.V. and recuperate. It was nice to breathe fresh mountain air, and enjoy a simple life for a few days.

On Sunday my father and I drove home. We stopped at one of our local haunts, a fantastic pizza joint in downtown Sacramento called Hot Italian. We enjoyed a tasty summer salad and a lovely pizza.

Peaches, gorgonzola, almonds, and balsamic dressing.

Today I did a dry run of making macaroons. Now, I have never made them before, but I have done a bit a baking. While my ambition was high, so was the temperature in my kitchen. While the taste of our finished product was delicious, I will work on perfecting the look of the macaroon, which I think was affected by the extreme heat on this late August day.

Vanilla Macaroons

In other news, I recently found this talented photographer who takes stunning work with an Iphone. You’ll have to check it out to really believe it.

Lachlan Payne is one fantastic photographer.

I‘ve also become slightly obsessed with this accoustic song: Just try it

Happy Friday

My roommate and I drove down to San Luis Obisbo last Saturday to attend a friend’s wedding at Santa Margarita Ranch. It was warm and sunny. The wedding was beautiful! There were people at the wedding that we knew from our bible study group, so we had a blast eating and dancing with them.

The reception was in a barn!

So yesterday my roomie and I hit the road and joined my parents at our house in Lake Tahoe. Today we went to the beach and relaxed with my brother’s pup by the water. It was a clear day with warm sunshine. It was a lovely last day at the beach before school starts next week.

We went to Chimney Beach, and hiked down to it from the highway.
