Friday Favorites

Hello Friends!

We had beautiful weather here this past weekend on Friday and Saturday. Gorgeous blue skies, 75 degrees with a light crisp wind. But then Sunday happened, it turned windy and cold, Monday and Tuesday it rained a bunch, and then was cold and grey the rest of the week.

But, Happy First Day of Spring! Ok, I know I’m a few days late, but sometimes that’s just how it goes. Here are a few things that I have seen lately that I would love to have.

These shoes  (above photo from Shopbop) look like the Chanel ones, but for a much better price. I have a few pairs of Sam Edelman’s flats, and I wear them all the time. So comfy!

I can see this shirt looking fabulous with white pants for a summer casual diner out with friends.

I just ordered this dress in blue for a spring wedding I have in Seattle in May. It’s back ordered but I can’t wait until it arrives!

I think this shirt could transition so well from work to dinner out. I love the white ties on the shoulders!

I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to wear to our graduation this year. Luckily, I won’t be on the stage this year as I’m not a senior mentor teacher anymore, so I don’t have to pick my dresses by calf length anymore. Yay! So I like the look of this one (in either the red or blue) or this one,  or this one in pink, or this one,  Which one should I go for guys? Any you love?

I’ve been looking at getting a milk frother for my tea/coffe/chai drinks at home. I’m looking at this model as it’s the one my parents have and love. Anyone have another brand or model that you would recommend?

Do you have any fun weekend plans? I’m hoping the weather goes back to being warm and blue skies!

Love,

Spirit Week

Hello Friends,

So, Spirit Week! It’s a big deal here at my new school. We started planning things roughly two months before this week. We practiced songs, took polls on themes, created design sketches for our “decks”, created banners to explain our theme. The week or so before, we have a banner reveal day to showcase each grade’s deck theme.

The weekend before is a big creative event where they build the “decks”, which is a physical background. I’ll show them a little bit later on in the post.

Each day was a themed costumed day. We had an hour or so long assembly each day, where they each sang a class song, skits, cheerleaders performed dances, etc. ASB pulled together a pretty amazing week.

Day 1: Zoo/Tourist

I borrowed a friend’s lion onesie. It was comfy and cozy, and best of all had pockets!

But I think the real hero of the day was my department chair, who came as……..a dinosaur!!

Day 2: Pajama Day

I wore my christmas flannel but somehow forgot to take a pic. But my department chair and I were opposites in both our flannel and robe colors, but his zombie slippers were the best!

For some reason on Day 3: I only took pictures on Snapchat and forget to save them. Whoops!

Day 4: “Er Day” Anything that ends in er, which ran the gamut of reindeer, Easter, nerdy teacher (me!) a character from Stranger things etc.

My favorite part is that a student dressed up as me!

On Friday it was rep your deck day. One of our mentors pulled together shirts and we all matched. It was pretty great. He is a picture of us in front of our amazing deck.

The freshman were Candyland.

Sophomores were Wizard of Oz, Juniors were Battlestar Galactica, and the Seniors were my absolute favorite as Lilo and Stitch.

The decks were pretty amazing. In fact the whole week was pretty amazing. I’m looking forward to next’s years spirit week as I will actually know what to expect this time.

How was your week?

Love,

Life Lately

Hello Friends!

This week was kinda crazy at work, but in all the best ways. It was Spirit Week, and I really had no clue how big of an event this was at our school. I am pulling together a post on it, so you will see evidence of the crazy, exciting, loud and pretty amazing Spirit Week. But here are a few small pictures of how life has been outside of school.

I went up to SF last weekend and it was a grey moody day. It was fun to pull on a hat and sweater and embrace the wintery weather.

I had gotten some movie passes for Christmas, and so a friend and I met up for dinner at Straits and then walked to the movie theatre. It was funny, had great acting, and was a total must see movie.

Picked up some new pants! I mostly wear corduroy pants to work on throwing wheel days, and skirts and dresses on other days. But I had some tired old too big pants and needed a new weekend pair. My mom and O helped me pick these out.
She was playing dress up and wore the cutest giraffe onesie. I wish they made them in my size.

I went for a long walk after school one day, when it was sunny and blue skies and it reminded me that winter will end and summer will be here soon enough.

A and I got together last week for drinks in Los Altos. We took some silly photos and had a blast on a random Friday evening.

How was your week?
