Welcome to 2016

welcome to 2016

One of my goals for 2016 is to be more healthy. I’m aware that looks like different things for different people.

For me, I noticed a big shift when I transitioned out of college and into the workforce. I hadn’t realized how easy it was to work out when my gym was open at seemingly all the hours that I needed, and it was not that difficult to fit some sort of daily exercise around my classes. Now that I work a traditional 9-5 (more like 7-6:30) it’s been a daunting task to fit it all into one day.

During the summers where I have endless time, I found it easy to fit in some sort of heart pounding activity, but during most of the year where I’m juggling a full time teaching job, 15-20 hours of my second job, the endless piles of laundry and dirty dishes, and trying to fit in enough sleep to do all the fore-mentioned things, regular exercise hasn’t happened so much.

So, I recently quit my 24 hour fitness gym, where I honestly felt intimidated by the men dropping the weight lifting equipment all the time it seemed, and set myself up with a personal trainer 2x a week. I looked into different dance studios, and found a new one that I hope to regularly commit to on Mondays. I found a friend I’m hoping to bug to walk with me on a regular basis. I’ve been a little more serious about adding more veggies and fruits to my daily food (normally I eat pretty healthy with a splurge here and there). I’m hoping that all these small changes will create a happier, stronger, fitter me.

What was your new years resolution? Any great things planned for 2016?

Love,

-S
