On My Radar

Hey guys,

Here are a few things that have caught my eye lately. Enjoy!

10 Delicious Green Smoothies

So, now that I’m back into the full swing of school and fall, it’s been a little crazy around here trying to keep on top of grading, lessonplans, sleeping, and ya know, feeding myself. I’ve been eying this list of smoothies as potential breakfasts (or really anytime) for a girl on the go! Any sound good to you? I’ve heard so many people talk about green drinks that it might be time for me to finally try one.

Behind the Scenes with Bob Ross

My AP art students last year were obsessed with Bob Ross. It only took one video from me, and then they would just make a playlist of him and watch during class while they were working on a project. His hair, his soothing voice, his ability to make “happy little trees”, he was a big hit. This article goes in depth on what working with him was like, and it sounds kinda amazing.

Teddy Bear the Porcupine

Uh… not much to say on this one, cute porcupine meets and eats a pumpkin for the first time. I want one now.

The College Prepster Vlogs

I’ve followed this blogger for a while now, and she has just recently started creating weekly videos of her life in with her hilarious boyfriend and two fluffy pups named Hamilton and Theodore. (#socute) I might have watched like an hour straight of her videos last night.

Anyway, it feels like September is going by so fast! I typically love fall, crisp cool mornings, bright sunny days, hot drinks, and of course PSL’s!

Mara Wilson

I remember I idolized Mathilda as a kid, I loved the whole storyline. I must have watched that movie so many times. This article discusses what she is up to these days, how its been like growing up from being a child actor, and a cute documentary she made during Mathilda. Did you like that movie as well?

Hows your September been? Anything good going on?

Acai Bowls

acai-bowls

Recently I have been trying to eat healthy, and one of my favorite treats is an acai bowl. I found a place in Mountain View that I loved a lot when I lived in Sunnyvale. I’ve also found that I love the one at Jamba Juice, called the Pitaya Bowl.

I’ve made them a few times at home, but they aren’t as delicious as ones that i’ve had out and about. I might do some research to see how to make them better. Acai bowls are perfect after a workout when I’m hungry but don’t want something too heavy. I love them with granola, puffed rice, honey, coconut flakes, strawberries and mango.

Have you had an acai bowl? What do you like in your Acai bowl? Any places I should try?

Pier 39

Hello Friends,

A weekend or two back Annie and I schlepped up to the city via Caltrain. I always feel like it is so much more of a hassle than it really it (we only really noticed it on our trip home) but as we sat there in the Sunnyvale Caltrain in the gorgeous sunshine with snacks in our bags, it was a great idea. We had wanted to explore the walk to Pier 39, and thought that we since are hearty walkers (#thankspokemongo), we decided we could handle the 2.9 mile walk there from the Caltrain station. We enjoyed a lovely but windy walk after stopping to caffeine up at Philz. I am so glad A finally joined the coffee train! My weekends are often so jampacked that I need coffee stops throughout the day. Annie and I loved all the nautical decorations on our walk.

It was an all around perfect weather day up in the city, which is extremely rare. It was sunny but not too hot. Windy but not too biting. We were aware that walking along the bay could (and would be later!) chilly and potentially rough wind-wise. But we were very lucky. I did bring more than one jacket to prepare for the late night walk back but it was a great walk both ways.

I was vastly unprepared for the crazy amount of tourists we encountered once we got to both the Ferry Building and Pier 39. So many people! It was insane.

We finally put in our name at Swiss Louis, where we had excellent service and fantastic food. I highly recommend it if you can get there early enough to put your name in. We had soup in a bread bowl and split a salad, which was the perfect amount of food for me. We also saw a great sunset as we ate.

We walked back to the Caltrain station, where we learned I had read the times wrong, and the next train wasn’t till midnight. #whompwhomp. So we called an uber pool, grabbed a cocktail while we waited and finally made the treck home.

It was a great day up in the City. I love SF for day visits, but like my sleepy little suburbia for every day life. What do you like to do in the City? Have you been to Pier 39 or walked along the water?

Currently Lovin’

Hello loves,

I had a great weekend. A good mix of friend time, exercise and family time. I love long weekends! Were you able to fit in a little bit of time for everything that you wanted to? These are all the things I’m currently wishing were in my closet.

I tend to wear a lot of black pants to work when I do choose to wear pants, which is mostly in the winter time when it’s too chilly for skirts and dresses. I think these flats seem perfect with black pants for fall, and I love a good cap toe. I’m trying to decide which I like more: the burgundy, the beige, or the grey! Which do you like? Which would you were the most to work?

How cute would this purse be with an all black outfit? Or a cute plaid shirt and jeans? I’ve been looking to invest in a cute blue purse, but haven’t yet pulled the trigger. I ended up getting my work purse for the new school year from them, and have loved it so far! It’s sturdy, roomy and the navy color gorgeously goes with everything. Do you have a blush purse yet?

It’s starting to be pretty chilly here in the mornings as I head off to work, and even though this sweater is out of my budget (#teacherlife) I love the look of it.

Off the Shoulder Sweater

The off the shoulder sweater look is a notch above a regular sweater, and can take a great classic creamy sweater from night to day easily.

What do you think about these pieces? Do any of them belong in your closet?

On My Radar

Hello! We made it to Wednesday. This is my first full week of school with my kiddos, and so far it’s going great. There have just been so many good things going on lately with friends, family and work. These are recipes, videos and photos that have popped up on my screen lately.

Sparkling Strawberry Kiwi Sangria

I have a girls dinner that I’m just starting to plan for next month, and a friend passed this recipe along. I might have to make a test bath before my event! It looks delicious.

The Cinematic Age

A few friends have posted compilations of their wedding videos. I find them so touching and sweet. I found this one and love everything about it.

The Best of Tumblr:

My best friend A sent me this super cute photograph of dogs holding tennis balls in their mouth, and this user has the best posting. I particularly love this one, but they have a lot of great things on their account.

Studio McGee

I’ve been following this brand on instagram and their blog for a while now, but they just started doing videos, and I’m hooked. They are both so cute, and their designs are impeccable. I would love to use them, if I ever buy a house. You can watch their first video here!

Olympic Commentary Fail

I have watched this so many times, and every time it cracks me up. This is typically my level of understanding of each sport I watch.

Hope your week is going well! Have any fun plans for the long weekend?

Love,

-S

Summer 2016

Hey!

Since you guys loved the Nantucket Video I made so much, I made another little montage of all the great things I did this summer. Since today is my first day with students at my new school, I created this early knowing I wouldn’t have time to write posts this week. I hope you like it!

It was one for the books, with travel, good times with friends and family! Are there any more videos I should make? Any topics you’d like to see covered?

How was your summer? Did you do anything you’ll remember in 20 years?

Love,

Nantucket Day 2

We woke up Monday morning a bit groggy but ready to explore the island. We gathered the family together and walked into town to get something to eat at Black Eyed Susan’s. After they had been recommended by two friends, … Continue reading
