Prom 2015

One of the end of the schoolyear events that I always look forward to is prom. It’s the only dance that I attend during the whole year. It’s mostly juniors and seniors that go, and it’s my favorite afterschool event … Continue reading

Gallery Wall

I’ve officially been in my cute little apartment for over a year. Yay! I realised about two weeks ago that I didn’t have a single thing on my wall, so I schedule a little bit of time with my dad to (finally!) hang some artwork.

I hung some artwork, and realized I have tons of white wall space needing some new fun, spunky artwork. I’ve been looking at things on Pinterest, Society6 and Etsy trying to figure out what all should go into the gallery wall in my bedroom and one in my living room.

These are current contenders for either gallery wall, what do you think? Any of them you love? Any of them that you hate?

101 in 1001 Progress

Recently I’ve been pretty busy juggling working full-time, my master’s classes at Santa Clara University, and babysitting on the weekends. The current quarter ends in two weeks and my last two classes will be taken via independent study. I’m hoping to have a little more free time to tackle an item or two on my 1001 List. You can see the whole list here!

In case you don’t remember, I started my list in January 1st, 2014. This summer I plan to tackle a few things on it.

Specifically:

23. Tour Hearst Castle

26. Go Paint Balling

44. Throw a Sunday Brunch

61. Purchase a bar cart. I love this one and this one.

71. Throw a costumed party (i’m thinking Great Gatsby!!)

75. Try hot yoga

88. Try a spinning class.

What about you? What’s on your life list or bucket list? Any suggestions on where to go for these few I’ve selected to tackle in the next few months?

Love,

Kate Spade, a Shopping Trip and a Quick Flight

Last weekend dawned bright and sunny. Winter in California is pretty darn good. My mother and I started off my winter break strong with a day of shopping. While this is typical for me, my mother dislikes shopping, but loves … Continue reading

New Years Eve in Tahoe

My family has a tradition. Typically a day or two after Christmas, we head for Tahoe. A tradition that started many years ago, is now set in stone. We tidy up the house after the Christmas chaos, pack up the car with all of our stuff and a dog, and drive up to our cabin for a gloriously lazy week.

Occasionally, we are lucky enough to get a fresh dump of snow right before we head up, but the last few years the snow has been in scarce supply. We watch tons of movies, jump in the hot tub, cook great meals, and usually have friends that a day or two before moving on to another holiday event.

Some years, its a bigger group for Christmas Eve, like last year we were 21 total (kids and adults!). This year, was a smaller group. With both my brother and I working full-time jobs, we have come to value our weekends and family time. This year, our group in Tahoe was much, much smaller.

We started NYE off at a neighbor’s party, where I promptly put on this great hat. After a while, we wandered back to my house, where we played board games until the wee hours of the night.

A crackling fire at our backs, fizzy drinks in our hands, good friends by our sides, we rung in the new year.

I’m going up to Tahoe again with friends in a week or so, and I’m looking forward to relaxing, watching movies, and playing in the snow again. Tahoe is one of the few places where we unplug, sleep in, breathe in the mountain air, and relax. I love it there.
