Turning 26

Sunday morning of my birthday weekend was cool and sunny, a perfect day in Seattle. I joined A’s aunt and her family for a gorgeous and delicious brunch at Salty’s in Redondo Beach.  They were total sweethearts, and called ahead to let the restaurant know it was a birthday occasion. They had balloons for us, mimosas, and cake with candles at the end. It was a buffet, and everything I ate was scrumptious! I would easily go back there all the time if I lived in Seattle.

There was a baby seal on the beach when we arrived, and we had a gorgeous view of the water while we ate. It was the best brunch I have ever been to.

A and I drove into the Seattle, picked up some chocolates at Fran’s Chocolates, groceries at Pike Market and went back to Jay’s house to cook the birthday dinner.

We made mashed potatoes, seared scallops in a white wine sauce, balsamic glazed salmon, saffron stewed mussels, and fresh bread from the market.

We feasted like kings that day. It was a perfect birthday weekend.
