October Birthdays in Seattle

My New Year’s Resolution this year was to travel more. Between being at university for 5 years, and then immediately jumping into working after graduating, I felt like traveling was something that slipped off my radar over the last few years.

My birthday occurred during a long weekend at school, with both a Friday and a Monday off. I completed my first two years of university at Seattle University, and have not been back since leaving after sophomore year. It seemed the perfect fit for a long weekend. I bothered my good friend A into coming up as well as her birthday is a few days after mine, so we dubbed it the Birthday Weekend Bash in Seattle.

We flew into Seattle early Friday morning. I was so excited I could barely sleep the night before.

My good friend Kati (my old roomie from Santa Clara) hosted me and it was great to see her again.

A seems to bound from one activity to another with tons of enthusiasm that puts even my energy levels to shame. After picking up my first rental car ever we picked up Kati and drove into Seattle. Kati and I walked around Seattle and explored the campus. They have built so many buildings in just 5 years.

Matteo Ricci was the college that I was in, and its where I discovered my love of teaching high school students art.

We ate dinner at a delicious Thai place. Saturday morning we got up bright and early and explored Pike Market. I picked up coffee at the first Starbucks, and we ate our way through the market.

We ate lunch at the Space Needle, which was unbelievably touristy and cool at the same time.

The food at the Space Needle was delicious! It was such a foodie weekend, I loved every minute of it.
