Aliens, Newsroom, Plaid and Gingham

Currently I’m reading The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. It’s a post-apocalyptical book in which aliens arrive on earth and kill many humans in an attempt to take over the planet. The book follows two main characters Ben Parrish and Cassie Sullivan as they struggle through a plague sent by the aliens to eliminate the human race. The aliens pit the human race against each other as they reside in human brains and make it impossible to determine the difference between human and alien.

In short, it’s great. At least, so far. I’ll let you know if the last 100 or so pages change my mind on that verdict. If you know of any post-apocalytical books that you have read and loved, please pass them along! I am always up for a new book/author.

The family and I started watching Newsroom a few weeks ago. We loved West Wing and Newroom is written by the same author: Aaron Sorkin. We have been playing catch-up as Season 2 is airing currently. I just watched the season premiere with the short one and it seems like this season will be fast paced. I’m excited to see where exactly they take it.

I hope everyone had a lovely long weekend. The roommate and I watched TV and tidied up the apartment. It looks so clean I almost don’t recognise it!

I was chatting with a friend earlier today, and I got schooled on the difference between gingham and plaid. Do you know the difference?

I thought they were similar patterns but when you look at the fine print there are a few things that separate them. This quick article succinctly explains it if you were out of the loop just like me. :]

Iphones, Anchors, Elephants and Monograms

So my Iphone case currently is showing some wear and tear. It mostly means that the rubber part around it is now loose and does not stay in place. In short, it bugs me because I have to constantly adjust it. But Otterbox has kept my phone intact so I am slightly nervous to switch brands, but this has happened twice in the year that I have had this brand.

In the meantime I have started looking at new Iphone cases. There are so many cute options!

Since I have a nautical theme going on, it would be so cute to have something anchors. But then there are some cheerful monogrammed or animal ones as well. So many choices!

Option One: I love this color.

Option 2: It has coral on it! And a monogram.

Option 3: I love the text in the background. So detailed.

Option 4: I like this color combo, and the cute elephant in the corner.

Option 5: This is the one I like the most!

Option 6; aren't these zebras cute?

So which ones do you like? Which one would you get? Tell me which one to get please! What does your case look like? Where did you get it? Do you still love it?

Anchors, Dancers, and Songs on Repeat

Have I mentioned I adore with all things nautical? Our house is named Queen’s Cove and even has it’s own Foursquare check in spot. I just ordered this little gem. It has been out of stock this whole summer, so when I got the email that they had some in stock I snapped one up!

I watched So You Think You Can Dance when I was in high school. One of the students (Nick Lazarini) was in my advanced dance classes at my high school and won the first or second season when I was a freshman.  I started watching SYTYCD because of him. One of the most recent episodes had an outstanding performance by Amy and Travis , that reminded me of a routine danced by
Travis and Heidi in an earlier season (not the same Travis :] ). The passion and emotion comes across so clearly in both pieces.

Performed by Heidi and Travis:

The costumes, the music, the dancing, it’s all spectacular. What did you think? Did you like one better than the other?

Recently this song has been on repeat. I heard it in this movie 10 Years, and fell in love with this song called Never Had by Oscar Isaac. I love the idea of guy writing a love song about what could have happened, but for some reason didn’t. Listen to it and tell me what you think.

Is there anything that you wish could have happened that didn’t?  Any path that you thought you would take but for some reason didn’t?

Reunited at last!

For the past three months, one of my friends has been living in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She flew home yesterday and we grabbed lunch and gabbed like little birds. We got our nails done and did a bit of boutique jewelry shopping. I picked up a new bangle by Stella and Dot. It’s made by the same company that also makes J. Crew’s bangles, a little tidbit the cashier at Therapy mentioned when I purchased it.

There is something so polished about having your nails done. I’m not sure exactly how, but my outfits feel that much more pulled together when I have cute nails. Illogical, I know. But it’s every little bit true.

I also had fun wearing my new J. Crew flats that I bought a few weeks back. Aren’t they adorable?

I have the gold capped ones and they fit so perfectly!

I had been wanting to bust them out on a fun occasional but nothing had really fit the bill. So, I wore them the whole day and they didn’t give me any blisters, which was surprising since my other J.Crew wedges gave me insane ones earlier this summer.

These are the ones that gave me blisters, but in Navy!

Anyway, happy Tuesday!

Just another Manic Monday

Hello,

My name is Sandy, and this is my new blog. I adore my roommate’s two Labradors, the color blue, and the smell of freshly washed sheets. I dance around my room in my new clothes, and plan life with colorful sticky notes and my moleskine. This is a blog about the things I do, and the craziness that comes with being a girl in California a little too in love with pulling together an outfit.

So, welcome to Classy & Fabulous. 🙂

Love,

-S
