My dad and I are both big Frank Lloyd Wright fans. A few years back I was able to set up a special father’s present of securing tours at the Stanford Hanna House. We had a blast and I’ve been itching to get see another one of his epic designs.
A few weeks back when school was still in session, we discussed driving up the Peninsula to Marin, to explore and tour the Marin Civic Center a few days after returning from Nantucket.
I took a ton of photos, but each one was so pretty that I had to post them all!
The tour was just under two hours, and we explored all parts of the building: all the floors, the upstairs library, the roof-top balcony, the patio with the fountain.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and knew tons of trivia on the architect and the history behind the process of building the Marin Civic Center. We ended up in Mill Valley for a quick bite to eat before driving back down home.
One of the reasons I was additionally excited to tackle this tour is that it’s on my 101 bucket list, and I haven’t been able to cross many off lately. My time is up in September, and I’m not sure I’ll be able to cross off that many more before my deadline.
It was a wonderful way to spend a day. Do you find any architectural style interesting? Any modern architects you follow?
Love,
-S
