Let me start by saying this is not a sponsored post. I just had heard so many good things about Blue Apron that I thought I would give it a shot.
Since moving into my current apartment two years, I haven’t felt up to cooking. Although I have a big nice window in my kitchen, it’s galley style, small, and cramped. With work being as busy as it has been, I’ve resorted to take out and simple meals without much prep.
As my New Year’s resolution was to eat more healthy, I decided to look into some of the food prep options. I decided to try a week of Blue Apron and a week of Hello Fresh!
I nervously set up my dates, as I was cautious about the boxes actually staying put in my doorstep (I’m on the first floor of a small apartment complex on a busy T-intersection) and lo and behold, there was a frosty box on my doorstep awaiting my return home!
I opened the box and noted one of the differences between the two companies. Blue Apron put everything slightly all jumbled up in the main box, with handy instructions. Hello Fresh had 3 smaller boxes inside containing everything I needed for each recipe. I started my two weeks of cooking everyday, and found that the Blue Apron recipes had a picture for each step, and detailed instructions. My Hello Fresh recipes had a final picture and instructions, but were simpler recipes overall. I only had one recipe from each box that turned out to be duds for me as I wasn’t super fond of zucchini or bell-pepper. Most recipes included a ton more veggies and meat than I eat on a normal basis, which made me pleased with my meal selection choices.
Despite my tiny little kitchen, the meals turned out mostly tasty and a ton of fun. I would snapchat people during and after (add me if you haven’t already:SisforSandy) and just enjoyed the whole experience.
Here’s a quick snapshot of what I made!
Have you ever tried Blue Apron or Hello Fresh? Did you like one over the other?
Love,
-S
