My mother and I have tried making macarons before, to a limited degree of success. As such, my mother conspired to sign the two of us up for a baking class at Sur La Table. Last weekend, my mother and I met bright and early to learn the baking secrets!

In short, we learned we had been doing everything wrong!

We got tons of specific-to-macarons tips, and I’m excited to try my hand at making them for a special event sometime in the future.

We make two delicious kinds: a candied ginger & apricot macaron, and a hazelnut Nutella macaron. The Nutella macaron was hands down my favorite flavor I have ever had! Although, the peanut butter & jelly ones that I had last summer are a close second!
